A great article from Debarati S Sen on Times Of India. She talks about the little known fact that Plantar Fasciitis is common among those who stand for a very long time. That includes home makers who cook and clean while standing, nurses, teachers, sales people, people who commute long distance in public transport. Very informative and educational. Take a look.

Plantar Fasciitis is a foot condition that causes heel pain and arch pain. The pain is caused by stress on plantar fascia (a ligament that stretches from heel to toes). The pain is worst after a period of rest (for example in the morning time you take your first steps after getting out of bed the pain is very sharp in heels and may spread around the entire bottom of the feet). Most people have pain in one foot but many suffer from Plantar Fasciitis in both feet.

Plantar Fasciitis is a pain (quite literally) in your heels and arches. It starts with almost no warning. You could get it from dancing in a wedding or right after your first 5K run. Sometimes it even starts after simply walking. Once the pain starts, it stays for a long time. Plantar Fasciitis is extremely common in India. I know of people who have had this pain for years. It is like sports injury that refuses to heal.
